Xinyuan Shen

My name is Xinyuan Shen (沈心源). I come from a small town with 2 million people named Ma’anshan (马鞍山) in Anhui province, China.

I grew up in my home country, wanting to become an artist. When I studied at the University of Washington, I was drawn to the fantastic field of architectural design and its ability to shape the living environment. After graduating with a BLA(Bachelor of Landscape Architecture) degree, I returned to China to practice in the design industry. I have designed and managed several civil and commercial projects for the past four years, including urban children’s playgrounds, logistic campuses, private gardens, and high-end hotels. During my practice, I developed a strong interest in real estate investment and development. I want to study how capital nurtures certain development ideas and how design can generate more value in these processes.

Apart from my academic/professional interest, I am a huge basketball fan and a traveler. I am interested in exploring new places and learning how the culture shaped the area.
