B.S. Civil and Architectural Engineering, Korea University

Moohyun, a South Korean native, brings eight years of work experience from DL Engineering & Construction, one of the largest general contractors in the country. After obtaining a B.S. degree in Civil and Architectural Engineering from Korea University, he worked as a qualified professional engineer in the infrastructure industry.

With his adventurous nature, Moohyun has held various positions in the infrastructure industry. Initially, he worked as a civil cost estimator for three years, actively participating in major infrastructure projects such as hydropower plants (HPP), rail & subway, etc., and establishing overall project schedule and budget. Following that, he spent three years as a field engineer on a $120 million port project in South Korea. This experience not only honed his project management skills in budgeting, labor management, and subcontractor coordination, but also developed his ability to handle challenging situations through effective risk management. Additionally, he engaged with BIM (Building Information Modeling) technologies, aiming to enhance productivity and facilitate the industry’s digital transformation. He even established a customized BIM platform that automatically connects information extracted from construction period with 3D modeling and developed several professional BIM technologies.

Seeking a comprehensive understanding of the entire lifecycle of real estate and infrastructure development, Moohyun decided to the MIT MSRED program with this ambition in mind. During his time at MIT, Moohyun aims to gain his insights into real estate finance and development, while also looking forward to sharing his experiences and perspectives with his classmates.
